Versatility

April Is Big Bass Month!!!!

The action in April as the Bass go into full TRI-SPAWN mode as I like to call it can be absolutely the best time to fish. However some people get agitated and often do not understand how to capitalize on these fish during this time.

Bass are a predator fish by nature and can be very finicky during the spring. As the water temps raise north of 58 degrees, the fish go into a pattern PRE-SPAWN. Often times one can start on main lake points throwing Carolina Rigged Lizards or crankbaits and it should produce fish.As the water temp rises, the big SOWS start to inch ever so slightly into shallower water, thus starting their spawn behavior. Secondary points and pockets in creek channels are a great place to look for them. The problem most people have this time of year is one word.......Versatility.

To be productive, you have to be versatile and let the fish dictate to you what they want. You may catch them on a WishStik(senko style bait) rigged wacky style on a short Carolina Rig on the outside edges of pockets, or you may catch them on a spinnerbait in the back of the pockets. One bait in particular at this time of year that will always produce fish is a Lizard. Whether you fish it Carolina rigged on points and secondary points, or Texas rigged in pockets and around cover......the Lizard never fails.

Typically, but not always....the bass are holding tight to cover when the sun is out and little cloud cover. When they are in this mode, slow down a little and fish baits such as the WTH-IZIT around laydowns and stumps or any cover that you find. Boat docks are also a great place to find bass as they work their way back into the creeks. If you pay attention to the fish and become versatile in your bait selection ( you may throw 8-10 baits) to determine what they want and find a pattern, you can be successful this time of year.

Last but not least SPAWN....when you find fish on the bed, SLOW DOWN. Make targeted throws of soft plastics such as the WISH Lizard past the bed(4-5ft) and work it back in slowly. When the bait is in the bed, jerk it 2-3 times and watch the bass reaction to it. If it leaves and comes right back....you can catch that fish with little agitation. If it leaves and takes a while to return, it may be harder.

When the BASS come off the bed POST-SPAWN...hold on tight and throw a trick worm around the same areas you found them coming in. There will be fish moving in and out of these areas for a good month. My favorite baits to throw are Wish Frawgit, WishStik, and the Wish Gator Tail worms in a post spawn situation besides trick worms.

I hope this has helped and informed some people not to be intimidated by the Spawn behavior of Bass. It can be the best time of the year!

Wish Fishing Lures

Welcome to WISH Fishing Lures blog! We are a family owned and operated business with a passion for fishing. I started this vision in December of 1997 while fishing with a long time friend on Lake Martin. It was a blustery cold day but we were having a ball catching fish, however the soft plastics we were using quickly ran out. Have you ever had  a mixed bag of soft plastics and had the colors run? I did and that is just what the fish were ordering that day. I turned to my friend and said..."man I WISH I had another pack of those". And the idea hit me....WISH fishing lures. Over the next decade I studied and learned how to pour soft plastic by hand and then hand injection.

Finally after 16 years, that WISH has come true. Our Website is loaded with our best Bass Catching soft plastic lures! You will find that we offer colors that catch fish not fishermen. My website was designed for ease of use and security was priority number 1. My company is dedicated to providing excellent customer service and quality soft plastic lures. We only use top quality Phthalate free plastisol in our lures, All of our baits are custom made hand injected. Every bait and its ingredients are manufactured in the USA!  At WISH fishing we have over 50 years of Bass fishing experience. One thing you will find is our personable approach to our customers and that we like to have fun.
